KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia is offering its streamyx GradPack package, which targets college and university students, until Dec 31.

Subscribers will enjoy broadband service at a lower rate, as well as receive some free goodies, according to the telecommunications giant.

GradPack offers two Internet service packages � 384Kbps (kilobits per second) for RM50 a month or 1Mbps (megabit per second) for RM100 monthly.

The students who subscribe will get a free modem, and a streamyx Zone ID which grants them wireless access at more than 1,300 hotspots nationwide.

TM is also waiving its RM75 activation and RM88 installation fees for GradPack users.

Also, subscribers of the 1Mbps package will get access to music portal Hypptunes, video service HyppTV and the Rose Online Evolution massively multiplayer online role-playing game for three months.

In addition to that, they will get a TM�Manchester United special-edition T-shirt for free.

Students who want to subscribe to GradPack must present their student ID at any TMpoint, TMpoint Authorised Dealership (TAD) outlet, or TM authorised reseller nationwide.

When you first hear the term internet addiction, you may smile and think this new term is a joke. Okay, so maybe people do waste a lot of time on the internet. But how can that be such a bad thing?

Yet, internet addiction can be a serious problem. Like many addictions, it is a compulsive disorder. First, take the word addiction itself. Addiction means that you are dependent on something, it is taking up a lot of your time. Now think about the time one can waste on the internet. Okay, so an hour here and there isn't a bad thing. But if a person is addicted to the internet they will be online longer than just an hour and it won't just be an event that happens occasionally, being online is something they do daily for hours on end. This addiction can lead to time away from family and friends. It can even led to time that should be spent at work.

Internet addiction can be further explained into subcategories, too. One may not just be addicted to the internet. One can get addicted to certain activities that perform while on the internet such as: online auctions, online chat rooms, online surfing, online gaming, and this addiction can even led to more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex.

How do you know if you have a problem? You should start by looking at your internet habits. Then ask yourself such questions as: How often are you online? Does being online ever interfere with your work or home duties and if so how often does it? How often do you check your email? Do people in your home complain about how often you are online? Do you continue to search out new online friends? When you are not online do you anticipate when you can go back online? Do you get annoyed when someone interrupts you while you are online? Do you loose sleep because you are online late at night? Do you ever hide the length of time you were online?

The answer to the above questions can indicate that you have a problem. If you think you do, what should you do? Like with any other health problem, you may want to consider counseling. If you can't afford counseling, you may want to check out some websites that offers some help.

It may seem strange that there are websites that help with online addiction. Yet, if you think about it online websites may be the best place for online addiction sufferer to seek help. A great site is netaddiction.com. At this site, they further explain what online addiction is. They also have online self tests you can take, to see if you have a problem and to see just how deep your problem is. They also offer advice for more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex activities. They even have chat rooms where recovering addicts and family members of recovering addicts can come together and share.

Should one avoid the internet for fear of getting addicted, no? The internet is a wonderful tool. You can learn a lot online. Plus, it is a great place to just relax and have fun. But moderation is the key in any activity, including the internet.

Parents should also monitor their children to make sure that they are not becoming addicted to the internet. Some children, especially teenagers, have problems building friendships and relationships. You don't want your child's only friendships to be on the internet.

The internet and your online friends should not take the place of real life and real life people. If you remember that one sentence, you will continue to enjoy the internet in a healthy way.

The New Xbox Experience Release Time

The update will add some touches to the Avatar system. The feature to make your own Avatar is no longer mandatory, and you can instead use Gamerpics if you wish. Avatars will be incorporated in Xbox Live Arcade game and Xbox Live Party. Also, game developers will have the ability to include Avatar unlockables in their games. The possibilities are endless there.

The new blades interface is now built directly into the Xbox Guide. It has all the functionality of the current dashboard system, but the guide will scan games that you play and give you a game specific Xbox Marketplace breakdown. Every function will now be available from the Guide. You can access your entire games library at any point.

In addition, the RSS feed on Xbox.com will be frequently updated with everything in the Marketplace. If you buy an item at Xbox.com at any time, it will automatically be downloaded to your console.

The Netflix feature included in the update allows you to stream movies on your Xbox 360. However, you must have a Netflix subscription of $8.99 or more. The feature will instantly update your console with Netflix queue choices. At this time, the feature will not support HD movies.

It seems too good to be true that Microsoft would go to such lengths, but remember that Xbox Live is a service that costs $70 to sign up, and $50 every year to renew. You'll have to decide if the price is too much to pay... or not.

Thanks to the new Xbox Experience, the Xbox 360 has become more than just a console, but an appealing alternative to countless other media products and services.

AT&T, Google trade barbs over Google Voice while FCC listens in

AT&T filed a scathing letter with the FCC earlier today complaining that Google's exhibiting a blatant double standard with Google Voice by blocking customers' access Adsl Vs Dsl numbers hosted by carriers that charge higher interconnect fees -- something that's specifically forbidden for traditional telephone carriers under so-called common carrier laws. The argument essentially revolves around the fact that Google's move helps it compete unfairly against AT&T and others by arbitrarily blocking calls to numbers that'd cost it too much to connect, which AT&T says puts Google in an "intellectual contradiction" given its "noisome trumpeting" (ouch!) of support for net neutrality.

It is pretty interesting that Google wants a free, open internet with the left hand while it's blocking certain telephone calls with the other, but Mountain View wasted no time in responding to the communication, posting an quick blog piece where it says there are "many significant differences" that should exempt it from common carrier legislation (some sound reasonable, though the argument that "Google Voice is currently invitation-only, serving a limited number of users" makes us think they're digging pretty deep to come up with reasons they shouldn't have to pony up the cash to get these calls connected).

If there's a bright side to the bickering, it's that both AT&T and Google can agree on one thing: rural carriers' continued ability to charge high connection fees hurts everyone -- it's a "badly flawed" system, in Google's words, and it'd be great if the FCC would do something about it. Whether this whole spat ultimately influenced the outcome of the Google Voice iPhone app debacle is unclear, but it's obvious that AT&T's been stewing about this for a while -- so let it all out, guys, mommy FCC's here for you, and one way High Speed Internet another we suspect GV's going to have to end up going legit if it wants to grow its user base by any significant measure. Do not give them an opportunity to click away to another product or site. Make your Internet marketing book (or whatever you offer) so compelling, they almost have to subscribe.

Using Putt Preview and Other Putting Tips For Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 For Wii

Here are some tips to using putt preview. I really did not understand the entire concept until I watched some of my friends and how they set up to putt.

For my setup I would look over the putt, seeing if I was uphill or downhill, see if the green was slope left or right or both. I would then position myself with my best guess and press putt preview. The preview would show me how close I was to the actual trajectory and whether the 100% putt would go farther or fall short.

What I did not realize was that during my setup if I set the putting distance at less than 100%, putt preview would show me the path based on what I had set up. Now as part of my setup I adjust the distance as well as the angle. This has improved my putting quite a bit.

Here are a few more tips:

After you exit putt preview you can adjust your putting distance arrow to add or subtract how many yards you are short or long and read the percentage. And then she hit me with it.

She told me her Web site had over 84,000 hits and nearly knocked me over with enthusiasm. I was stunned! Not because her hit count was so strong, but because all that hard work deserves a better measurement system.

We chatted a bit longer and in no time she was thinking about a better way to quantify her Web site traffic.

Demystifying the term 'hits' -

Let's take a look at where this term came from, what it really means to a Web site and why it's not so helpful.

The term 'hits' can be traced back to tradeshow venues, the passing visitors (or traffic) and the interaction between both parties. To gauge a venue's daily progress, managers itsupport refer to each visitor touch-point as a hit. These hits represented activities such as conversation with a prospective customer, handing out a brochure, taking a business card, collecting survey data, etc.

Hits migrate to the Web -

When analysis software was first developed, 'touch-point' counting was considered the best way to measure Web site traffic. Even though counting hits didn't actually count the number of eyeballs looking at an individual Web page, the marketplace embraced the term and misused it.

Here's what a hit really is...

Similar to tradeshow interaction -- including snacking on a venue's finger foods -- Internet users interact with Web pages. Each time a file is requested from a Web server through a Web browser, one hit is registered.

Likewise, when a single Web page holding 9 graphic files is requested, the Web server records 10 hits. (One hit for the Web page, 1 hit for each graphic.)

Is an 84,000 hit count impressive? It could be.

Contrary to popular belief, tracking hits is not the best way to count Web site visitors. The most accurate way is via page impressions, unique visitor sessions or cookies. If you can count visitors accurately, you're on your way to measuring Web site effectiveness.
